Born in Navarra, the tenor José Luis Sola began his musical studies at the Escolanía Niños Cantores de Navarra and later he studied with the tenor Ricardo Visus. In 2002 he received an extraordinary scholarship of the Navarrian Government and was awarded at the Julián Gayarre and Bilbao Singing Competitions.

Since then he has performed the leading roles of Don Pasquale in Cesena (Italy), Pamplona and Málaga; Lucia de Lammermoor and Faust in Barcelona; Rita and L’Arbore di Diana at Teatro Real Madrid; Lucrezia Borgia, La Traviata, Manon and Dialogues des Carmélites in Oviedo; Don Giovanni at Teatro Colón of Guatemala, Mahón, Sevilla and Pamplona; The Magic Flute in Bilbao, Malaga and Oviedo; Doña Francisquita at Teatro Arriaga of Bilbao; Falstaff in Costa Rica and Bilbao; Les Pêcheurs de Perles in Pamplona; Cyrano by Di Chiera at Michigan Opera; Rigoletto and Faust in Warsaw and Costa Rica; La Fille du Régiment in Jerez; L’Italiana in Algeri in Jerez, Córdoba and Costa Rica; Il Concilio dei Pianeti with Claudio Scimone and I Solisti Veneti in Padua; Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Murcia; Il Turco in Italia in Wildbad (Germany); La Sonnambula in Pamplona; El Relámpago at Teatro de la Zarzuela Madrid; Le diable à Séville in Valencia; Krol Roger in Bilbao and Manaos; Die Entführung aus dem Serail in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; El Caserío at Teatro Arriaga of Bilbao and Teatros del Canal of Madrid; première and recording of the opera Juan José by Sorozábal at Auditorio Kursaal of San Sebastián and Auditorio Nacional in Madrid; Don Pasquale in Oviedo; Viva Madrid at Teatros del Canal of Madrid and in Oman; L’equivoco stravagante in Bilbao; El dominó azul in Pamplona; La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein at Teatro de la Zarzuela; El Juez in Vienna; The Pearl Fishers in Dubai; I Capuleti ed i Montecchi  in Oviedo and Pamplona; Don Giovanni  in Manacor and Bilbao; La Traviata  in Jerez, among other works.

He has also sung as soloist in several works of the symphonic and choral repertories as Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Haydn’s Stabat Mater, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Brahms Liebeslieder Walzer, Gounod’s Santa Cecilia Mass and Puccini’s Missa de Gloria.

Recent and future engagements include Fuenteovejuna in Oviedo, Der Kaiser von Atlantis in Sevilla, Semiramide in Bilbao, Orfeo et Euridice in Jerez and Doña Francisquita and El caserío at the Teatro de la Zarzuela Madrid, as well as several concerts and recitals.
