Antonio Corianò

General Management

Antonio Corianò completes his musical studies in Parma at the Centro Universale del Bel Canto and specializes at the Accademia Filarmonica in Bologna; he continues his training having as his guide the mezzo-soprano Dolora Zajick and later the tenors Raúl Giménez and Paolo Barbacini.

His theater debut took place in 2012 with the role of Manrico né Il Trovatore for the Ravenna Festival where he was noted for the particular beauty of his vocal timbre. Other years of study and important formative experiences followed which, although not in leading roles, gave him the opportunity to grow and learn at the great school of the stage performing in the most important Italian theaters under the guidance of some of the most prestigious batons in opera music. These include Verdi‘s Macbeth at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome conducted by Riccardo Muti, at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale in Florence conducted by James Conlon, and at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan under Valery Gergiev.  La traviata again at Teatro alla Scala conducted by Daniele Gatti, Nabucco and Madama Butterfly at Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, Attila at Teatro Regio in Parma conducted by Gianluigi Gelmetti.

The opportunity to fully express his talent was offered him again by the Ravenna Festival in 2020, choosing him to debut the role of Don José in Bizet‘s Carmen.  Audience success was matched by critical acclaim, which praised his forthright tenor squillo and recognized in his emission the tradition of Italian-style singing technique. Endowed with a voice of a peculiar burnished color and remarkable stage performance, after his recent debut in I lombardi alla prima crociata at the Teatro de l’Opéra in Monte-Carlo, he is referred to by the French press as ” the tenor with the voice of the sword.”

In the past season he was again Don José in Carmen at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, Aroldo in Giuseppe Verdi‘s opera of the same name in the Ravenna Festival production, debuted the role of Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera at the Teatre Principal de Palma de Mallorca, the role of Rodolfo in Luisa Miller at the Theater of Erfurt, and was Pollione in Norma at the various theaters of Opera Lombardia and at the Carlo Felice in Genoa.

As a more recent and significant debut, the role of Mario Cavaradossi in Puccini‘s Tosca at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona is noteworthy. Also worthy of mention is his participation in the Verdi Festival at the Teatro Regio di Parma in Giuseppe Verdi’s I lombardi alla Prima Crociata.
